In this drill, players must execute a tactical maneuver based on color signals. The use of a traffic light system is effective, with clear and directive cues. Red signifies a defensive approach (hitting high over the net and towards the coach), yellow indicates a neutral stance (directed at the coach), and green signals an aggressive attack (hitting past the coach).
- In the first step, the coach announces the color and the children behave accordingly.
- In the second step, the children are asked to call out the color themselves based on the coach´s feed and hit the appropriate shot. (As the children are not wearing a microphone, this is not easy to hear in the video).
Note:
The coach must ensure that the children hit the ball accurately and do not rush. Additionally, they should call out the color promptly in the second phase.
Feeding:
During this initial phase of learning tactics, the coach feeds from the basket, enabling them to focus more effectively on the task. Once the players are familiar with the task the coach can rally or the players can rally with each other.
