Methodical introduction to Level 1

In this methodical introduction to Level 1 serve training, the movement sequence is simplified: the players sit on the floor and concentrate on a controlled ball throw and a stable stroke movement with the forehand grip. The focus is on the clubface and targeted execution – ideal for beginners!

Coaching Keys:

  • Switch off your legs: Sitting minimizes the influence of the footwork in order to concentrate on the arm movement.
  • Controlled ball throw: The ball throw should be controlled and not too high.
  • Grip selection: Players deliberately use the forehand grip – ideal for first attempts at serving at level 1.
  • Short grip allowed: Especially helpful for children or smaller rackets.
  • Forward clubface: The forehand grip supports a clubface that is always aligned with the goal – easier for beginners.
  • Target: Players should bring the ball into the opponent’s court with targeted momentum, not just “throw” it into the court.
  • Many repetitions: Each player receives new balls and repeats the movement several times.
