Many players mistakenly try to use their wrist to create the cutting motion when slicing. However, it is crucial to keep the wrist up when executing a slice. Starting with the wrist in an elevated position is essential. Rather than starting the slice with the wrist low, begin with it up. From this position, lead slightly with the edge of the racket and move forward, keeping the wrist firm. The wrist should not swing down with the racket; instead, it should stay steady as you move forward with the racket slightly open. The goal is to hit through the ball rather than chopping or getting underneath it. This technique helps maintain control and precision in your slice shots.
