This is a great exercise to work on control, adjustment and collaboration. Two players hold a stick with their non-dominant hand, each one holding one end of the same stick.
Ball Thieve
The children put their racquets on the ground in a circle around another racquet with 12 balls, two balls per player.
Groundstroke after Cone Touches
The coach calls the color of the cone that the player should touch. After 3 touches he feeds a short ball, which the player has to hit over the net with solid technique.
Figure 8 Runs
The players move as quickly as possible between both cones following a figure 8.
Speed Jumping over the Line with Both Feet
The players jump over a line back and forth as fast as possible. This exercise works on speed and balance.
Building a Rally – Keeping the Ball in the Court
Two children hit balls to each other trying to keep the rally going withour mistakes.
Serve Practice
Players practice their serve. They hit serves to an open court without a returner and work on their technique.
The First Volley Rally
The coach and the players rally hitting only volleys. Ideally they want to keep the ball in play for at least 6 shots.
Partner-Drill with the Reaction Ball
Two children throw a reaction ball to each other. One throws it through the target at the net and the other around the target, sometimes to the right and sometimes to the left.
Learning to Adjust to Deep Balls with the Reaction Ball
The goal is to have the children throw the reaction ball over the target and then run to touch the net.
